About John Baker
An endurance athlete with a keen ability to leverage the discipline of sports to achieve personal and professional goals, John D. Baker primes C-suite leaders to execute at their highest level. With his background in banking and finance, business and philanthropy, as well as domestic and international non-governmental organizations, John draws from broad experience in elevating senior executives to reach their peak performance while simultaneously attaining organizational and life-balance goals.
John’s expertise draws on certifications from the U.S. Department of Commerce SCORE coaching program, Standards for Excellence®, and BoardSource®, in addition to programs at Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia Universities. Rooted in a lifelong dedication to service and education, John has volunteered for numerous nonprofit organizations where he has successfully cultivated leadership teams to increase growth and ensure sustainability.
A distinguishing factor in John’s approach is his understanding of neuroscience to foster individual and team persistence, resilience, insight, and empathy. John harnesses these strengths and translates them directly to executive success and long-term results.
A marathoner, triathlete, distance swimmer, and competitive cycler, John recently finished races in Estonia, Hawaii, Helsinki, and New York. He recently competed in the 2024 IRONMAN competitions.

Columbia Credentialed Associate Executive Coach (CCAEC)
Columbia Coaching Center of Excellence (CCOE), a strategic partnership between Teachers College Graduate School of Education and the Columbia Business School, awards CCAEC certification to prevailing participants through a 1-year, graduate-level, Columbia Coaching Certification Program (3CP). 3CP consists of four primary components:
- 1-Week Front-End Coaching Intensives
- 8-Month Field-based Practicum
- 1-Week Advanced Coaching Intensive
- 60-Day Posting Period
